TCV TEACHER'S TRAINING CENTER (TTC)

Tibetanization of Education has led to the necessity of having teachers specifically trained to handle our programme at the primary level. Hence, TCV founded the Teacher's Training Centre at Dharamsala in 1995. The centre trains teachers for two-years in an intensive course that offers a well-designed curriculum of all the core subjects taught at the primary level, as well as music, child psychology, teaching methodology, Buddhists philosophy and computer, etc.

This Teacher's Training Centre will go a long way in fulfilling the needs of providing teachers who can effectively handle many new developments in education including the Tibetanization Programme. Ever since the first batch graduated in 1997, every year around 25 teachers graduate to teach in various Tibetan schools. Today, this Teachers Training Centre has flowered into one of the finest training centres in the Tibetan community in exile.

Since the start of Teacher's Training Centre in 1995 till date 2006, 9 successful batches turned out with the total strength of 182 graduates. Out of which, 178 teachers were very well recruited in various places and out of them, 168 were absorbed in various TCV Schools as teachers. The rests are in TIPA, Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie, SOS Pokhra, Sambota School, etc.

Currently, the 18 trainees in the 10th Batch (Final Year) and 22 trainees in the 11th batch (First Year) were in the Teacher's Training Centre.
