In today's globalized economy, there is an unprecedented competition in every domain. Thousands of students are passing out from our schools and colleges every year into a limited job market where only the fittest survive. As a result, the unemployment problem for our youngsters has been a threatening trend since some years ago.
In response to this, TCV started SOS Vocational Training Centre near Dehradun with the objective of providing the Tibetan youths with opporunities for a range of technical skills in various trades so that they can serve in industries and community centres in India and abroad and even set up their own businesses for self-employment. The Centre stretches over 65 acres of land and it was formally inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in November 2000.
