The School at Patlikuhl with over 600 children majority of whom are orphans and destitute was routinely threatened by fierce flooding specially during monsoon due to the change of course of the River Beas. With the State Government declaring the region as flood "Danger Zone", we were left with no option but to evacuate and relocate the school to a new facility before any serious tragedy occurred.
Much awaited project at Chauntra, 80 km away from Dharamsala was started on a 14.5 -acre land early 2000. Although some unfortunate delay was experienced at the initial stage of the construction work, by early 2004 essential infrastructures were in place. As soon as the short summer break commenced at the beginning of June 2004 children were filled with a great sense of joy and excitement for the final move to their new school at Chauntra. Eight dormitories and two hostels accommodate 708 children at that time and the plans are already underway to upgrade the classes from VIII to Secondary level.
Without the invaluable support and continuted understanding of our friends it would not have been possible for use to achieve our twin objective of easing the accommodation problem and providing a safer environment for the children.Today TCV Chuantra has already upgraded its classes upto class IX with and has become a Residential School with;
| No. of Children | 980 (974 Boarders & 6 Day Scholars) |
