13 Sept:Officials from Barrack Obama Government visited TCV School Dharamsala

Ms. Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the US President Barrack Obama and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison, María Otero, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Special Coordinator for Tibetan affairs designate in the US State Department, and Michael Strautmanis, Chief of Staff to the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison visited TCV School Dharamsala, the largest Tibetan school in Exile on 13 September 2009 morning.

The delegates were joyfully received by the children and staff of the TCV and were shown around the school campus, from baby room to children's homes to peace zone to library and school building. They later took little rest at the library to discuss several things about children's life in the villages while having a tea and snacks.

After the brief tour of the school, the delegates were later scheduled to meet Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister of Tibetan Govt. in Exile as well as other Tibetan Institutions, etc. They will also receive an audience from His Holiness the Dalai Lama before they leave Dharamsala and India.

2 Sept: TCV observed 49th Tibetan Democracy Day

Our senior students of class X, XI and XII and the staff members along with thousands of people congregated at the Tsuglagkhang on the morning of 2 September 2009 to mark the 49th Tibetan Democracy Day.

Some of the key figures present during the function were French Senate delegation led by Sen. Jean Francois Humbert, Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Mr. Penpa Tsering, Speaker of Tibetan Parliament, Tibetan chief justice commissioner, members of the parliament, government officials, heads of NGOs, schools, monasteries etc. The French Senate delegation led by Sen. Jean Francois Humbert also paid a visit to the Tibetan Children's Village the day before.

Tibetans in Exile have completed 49 years of it's declaration of Democracy since 1960, and had established a full-fledged Tibetan Government-in-exile with a parliament directly elected by the Tibetan people under the democratic voting system.

Also on the day, 2 TCV students who have excelled in the All India Senior Secondary Board Examination Class XII amongst all Tibetan schools were awarded the prizes. The students were Dorjee Gyaltsen (88 %) of TCV Upper as the topper in XII Science and Ms. Kalsang Dickyi (92.80 %) of TCV Bylakuppe as the topper in XII Commerce.
