Panel Discussion on the topic "Voices of Peace and Non Violence was held in the Upper TCV School Temple at 2.00 p.m. on Monday 29 Sept 2008. This interactive panel discussion was conceptualized and funded by Mr. Jampa Nyendak, Ex TCVian from USA and organised by the Upper TCV Senior Section. The guest speakers present were Rev. Geshe Lhakdor la (Tibetan Library), Rev. Geshe Thupten Kunphen la (TCV School), Mr. Kunphel Sharling (TCV Head Office), Mr. Tsenzin Tsondue (Friends of Tibet), Mr. Lhakpa Tsering (Active Non Violence Education Center) and Mr. Dawa Tsering, School Captain. The program was participated by all the senior students and the staff.

The program came out to be very interactive and productive where all the guest speakers, students and staff enjoyed and learned indepth about the various dimensions of peace and non violence aspects.

Upper TCV Middle Section Observes "Tibet Week" from 24-30 Sept. 2008

Upper TCV Middle Section is observing its "Tibet Week" starting from 24 September at its premises by having a special lecture on Tibetan Losar in the morning. The Director and the Principal of Upper TCV along with some senior teachers from CST Mundgod and CST Orissa attended the morning function and graced the occasion. Right after that, the head master took the guests around to see the decorations of classrooms by children not diverting from its theme "Tibet Week". They still have lots of interesting programs to show in the days to come for the children and staff alike.

As a part of cultural education to children, TCV takes utmost care in conducting such programs on time to time basis so that our children not only learns from the teachers but they become more interactive and expressive of their hidden talents and skills esp. out of classroom scenario. Often children come up with extremely delightful ideas and thoughts on various aspects that if encouraged and motivated rightly shall bring in lots of confidence in themselves and thus enhance their ability to learn and grow on par with their peers.

TCV Culture Centre organized a special talk on the "Introduction to Tibetan Astrology: The Solar and Lunar Eclipse" for the kids of Class IV & V of Junior Section. The talk was given by Astrologer Ms. Tsering Choezom and she made her talk very simple so that children can easily understand the concepts. No doubt, children seem to have understood quite a lot that they come up with variety of questions and doubts. On the whole, the talk was interesting and children enjoyed learning the essence of Tibetan Astrology.

A Dental Team comprising of Dr. Joanne Richardson, Dr. Darryl and Dr. Mayin have come all the way from Australia to give a Refresher Course for the Tibetan Dental Therapists in India from 22-26 September 2008. The course is taking place at the House of Peace, TCV School Dharamshala Cantt. and attended by Dentists from 3 different branches of TCV schools namely Upper, Suja and Ladakh.

TCV Staff Day Observed-05 September 2008

All the Tibetan Children's Village Schools celebrated their annual Staff Day on the 5 September to pay gratitude and honour thier respected teachers and staff for what they have done to them, all these years. The day was observed with a formal function during which the student's representative and the chief guest have their share of speaking words of gratitude to their beloved staff, followed by school song, etc.

One of main activity of the day was award ceremony honouring the dedicated staff of TCV who has spent almost entire life working for the benefit of our children in their diversified field. TCV recognizes their profound service to the Tibetan cause and children -the future seeds of Tibet by awarding them with a Tsepak-Me Statue (40 years) and Chenre-Zhik (30 years) respectively at their schools.

At the Upper TCV School, students of class IX and above assembled in the Hermann Gamiener Hall at 9.00 am with Mr. Tenzin Sangpo, TCV Education Director as the Chief Guest. The programme was started with an introductory speech by school captains in Tibetan and in English which was followed by presentation of awards for TCV
