TCV NEWS IN PICTURE-2009 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Prof. Alice Walker, Winner of Pulitzer Prize (1983) for her novel ‘The Colour Purple’, a close Associate of Martin Luther King and a highly respected Non-Violent Activist often quoted by Barack Obama as an inspiration and an American Icon along with Mr. LC Jain & Mrs. Devaki Jain, well known and respected living Gandhians as well as activist in India visited TCV School Dharamshala this morning, 24 Dec 2009. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Mother's Training Centre which started its Academic year in March has come to end today with the closing function on 18 Dec 2009. Mother Trainees displayed exhibition, talked on important issues like nutrition and counselling, etc. Certificates were awarded to them and Chief guest Mr. Tsewang Yeshi, TCV President gave out the farewel speech for future home mothers. ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Montessori Teacher's Workshop has been started at Upper TCV School on 14 December and will last till 25 Dec 2009. The first session was taken by Mr. Tenzin Sangpo, TCV Education Director followed by Mr. Ngawang Sherap, TCV Montessori Head. During these 10 days of workshop, the montessori teachers will have various interative classes, sharing of teaching experiences, children's ryhmes and songs in Tibetan, Tibetan honorofic, etc. ![]() ![]() Tibetans and all its friends and supporters as well as all the peace loving people around the world observed the Nobel Peace Prize Day and International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2009. In Dharamsala, thousands of people of all kinds gathered at the Tsuklagkhang to celebrate the day. Various Tibetan and other songs and dances from different Institutes and Schools were performed to entertain the public during the day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children's Day was grandly celebrated by all the TCVians in their respective branches on 14 November 2009 despite the unwelcoming weather condition esp. in Dharamsala region. In the morning, different prizes and certificates were distributed as well as talent show was organised in the Upper TCV School amongst the children. In the evening, different section of staff displayed their longtime toil and hardwork before children and entertained them. The children were so happy and overjoyed with the different songs, dances and interesting skits. ![]() The National Level CBSE Science Exhibition 2009 was held at Bal Bharati Public School, Pitampura, New Delhi from 22-23 Oct 2009. TCV School was among the 100s of schools from different regions of India which took part in this prestigious event after being selected through Regional Level Science Exhibition. Our school project "Natural Food Preservative" is categorized under the theme "Agriculture & Food Security ". Two students Tenzin Yangchen and Pema Namgyal of class IX under the guidance of Mr. Jamuang proudly represented TCV school in the presentation of this unique and innovative project. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PEACE JAM 2009 took place in the TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. from 26-27 Oct 2009 with H.H. the Dalai Lama as the chief guest along with 3 other Nobel Peace Laureates namely Jody Williams, Shirin Ebadi and Mairead Corrigan Maguire. They all gave an elaborate speeches concerning the Tibet and its people who suffered numerous loss in the last 50 years under Chinese occupation. They further read the statement signed by eight Nobel Peace Laureates to the Dalai Lama assuring him of their support for his non-violent efforts to resolve the issue of Tibet. This was followed by speech from His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the audience comprising TCV students and staff, CTA delegates, interested western followers as well as media persons. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 49th Founding Anniversary of TCV School Dharamsala from 23-25 Oct 2009. On day 1, H.H. the Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche graced the occassion while hundreds of children took part in various programs like march pass, songs and dances and calisthenics, etc. Thousands of people of all walks attended and enjoyed the Anniversary (Lingka), which in a way is one of the most funffilled event of the year. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Upper TCV Junior Section displayed its Tibet Our Country Project on Tibetan Government in Exile since the forceful occupation of Tibet by China in 1959. More than 100 children who were involved in this project took lots of interest in learning and explaining various aspects of Tibetan Government in Exile like its functions, structures and key people, etc. They held the exhibition on the morning of 16 October 2009. ![]() ![]() Mr. Michael and Ms. Evelyn, a Shiastu Massage practioners from Austria have volunteered to give a Shiastu Massage to TCV Staff Children alike starting from 18 September 2009. The massage therapy could be helpful in treating headache, backache, indigestion, stiff neck, sleep disorders and menstruation problems, etc. ![]() Ms. Amalia, a research student from New York University after visiting Tibetan region of Kham and Amdo earlier saw and experienced different things in Tibet. She also learnt Tibetan dialect and songs and have visited TCV School to share her experiences with our children on 16 September 2009. ![]() ![]() Boys and girls of Junior and Middle Section of TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. took part in their Annual Inter-Class Marathon Competition on 15 September 2009. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ms. Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to the US President Barrack Obama and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison, María Otero, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Special Coordinator for Tibetan affairs designate in the US State Department, and Michael Strautmanis, Chief of Staff to the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison visited TCV School Dharamsala, the largest Tibetan school in Exile on 13 September 2009 morning. ![]() ![]() Geshe Lobsang Dawala gave a talk on the topic "3 Jewels of Buddhism" for the Junior School Students and Staff on 11 September 2009 at Deckyi Tsering Hall. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Schools grandly observed its Annual Staff Day (Teacher's Day) on the 5 September 2009 in their respective schools. Under the leadership of Student's Council, the students of all age group took active participation in entertaining the staff during the day with various programs like sports, games and a zumptous lunch not to mention about the evening cultural show! ![]() TCV Students and staff joined the public at Tsuglakhang during the Democracy Day on 2 September 2009. Mr. Dorjee Gyaltsen (88% in XII Sc), TCV Upper and Ms. Kalsang Dickyi (92.80% in XII Com) of TCV Bylakuppe received the prizes from Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche for their outstanding Board Examination Results. (Photo Courtesy: Phayul.com) ![]() ![]() ![]() Group of 4 Cyclists from Netherland visited TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group of 73 young Tibetan teenage boys and girls from 6 different countries with the strong support from parents took part in the TCV SUMMER CAMP 2009. The Camp was organised from 3 July-7 August 2009 at the House of Peace, TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. During the 5 weeks camp, more than 30 Internal and External Resource persons and lots of other people were actively involved in the camp. The children also toured local places of interest, other TCV branches and at last to the holy Rewalsar Lake (Tso Pema) for prayers, offerings and all had a adventurous moment together! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Several thousands of Tibetan teenage boys and girls along with college going youths from different parts of the country assembled at the TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. from 24-25 June 2009 to attend the two-day special teaching by His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama on the "Thirty Seven Practices of Bodhisatva". The teaching was also highly appreciated by hundreds of general public including many Indians and foriegners who attended the same. During the first-day afternoon, Hon'ble Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche also graced the event by speaking on the "Tibetan History, the Civilization, Political turmoils before and after 1959 and the present Political Situation in Tibet as well as in Exile." The program was also facilated by very experienced resource persons from Newman University, USA. The program was further enriched with its unique features including cultural sharings and an adventurous trekking uphill the Triund Mountain for a night! Everyone had a wonderful learning and sharing experience... ![]() Nearly 30 Sponsorship Secretaries from all the TCV Branch schools took active part in the Workshop which was held from 4-15 April 2009 at TCV School Dharamasala. The program was also facilated by very experienced resource persons covering different topics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Children took active part in the 50 years of Chinese Occupation of Tibet during the National Uprising Day on 10 March 2009 at the Tsuglakhang and Dharamsala along with thousands of fellow Tibetan brothers and sisters! ![]() ![]() ![]() Group of young and talented Koreans through the Rogpa Association organised many activities for the Upper TCV children since 16 February 2009. The group taught the children with Karate, drawings, creatity arts out of colours and several other games and have been thoroughly entertaining the children. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Business Section today inaugurated its new business ventures including "A Coffee House" and the "Village Tours & Travels" in addition to its earlier Boutique Shops, located right above the TCV Day School, Dolma Chowk, Mcleod Ganj. The inaugural ceremony was attended by Mr. Lekshey Tenpa, TCV Head Office as Chief guest and was joined by several other TCV Heads as well as Mrs. Tenzin Dadon, Manager of TCV Craft and her team this morning on 8 January 2009. |
