Children having lots of fun while reading during the TCV School Winter Program-Reading Class ![]() ![]() TCV Mother's Training Center (MTC) on 17 December 2008 conducted its farewel for the 13th Batch which comprises of 19 women from various Tibetan settlements. With lots of hardwork and perseverance throughout the year, they all had a wonderful training and almost all of them were suitably placed in different TCV schools branches. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Children of TCV Upper Dharamshala celebrating their Children's Day on the 14 November 2008 with lots of joy and jubiliation by engaging themsleves in song, dance and various other activities folowed by a zumptous and delightful lunch. Likewise the similar programmes took place in all other TCV branches. ![]() ![]() Group of St. John's Ambulance Team who used to visit TCV last year in December visited again and brought lots of sweets and gifts for the chidlren. They also had a wonderful time discussing with the president and heads of the TCV about various issues on 10 Nov 2008 ![]() ![]() II Inter Tibetan Schools Tibetan Dialect Competition held at the Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie from 4-5 November 2008. The chief guest during the program was Honorable Kalon & Education Minister Mr. Thupten Lungrig and the Dialect Competition was participated by 11 Tibetan Schools in India. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Upper TCV School Junior Section observed its first ever "Club Day" on 2 November 2008 with the invaluable inputs and resource pulled from various sources especially from the children itself to show case their achievements and learnings during the Saturday's Club periods. Staff, Children and Guests at Temple for Sangsol ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Panel Discussion on the topic "Voices of Peace and Non Violence was held in the Upper TCV School Temple at 2.00 p.m. on Monday 29 Sept 2008. This interactive panel discussion was conceptualized and funded by Mr. Jampa Nyendak, Ex TCVian from USA and organised by the Upper TCV Senior Section. The guest speakers present were Rev. Geshe Lhakdor la (Tibetan Library), Rev. Geshe Thupten Kunphen la (TCV School), Mr. Kunphel Sharling (TCV Head Office), Mr. Tsenzin Tsondue (Friends of Tibet), Mr. Lhakpa Tsering (Active Non Violence Education Center) and Mr. Dawa Tsering, School Captain and were participated by all the senior students and staff. The program came out to be very interactive and productive where all the parties enjoyed and learned indepth about the various dimensions of peace and non violence aspects. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Upper TCV Middle Section is observing it's "Tibet Week" starting from 24-30 Sept. at it's premises by having a special lecture on Tibetan Losar in the morning. The Director and the Principal of Upper TCV along with some teachers from other Schools attended the morning function and graced the occasion. After the morning function, the head master took the guests around to see the decorations of classrooms by children on the theme "Tibet Week". They still have lots of interesting programs to show in the days to come for the children and staff alike. ![]() ![]() A Dental Team comprising of Dr. Joanne Richardson, Dr. Darryl and Dr. Mayin have come all the way from Australia to give a Refresher Course for the Tibetan Dental Therapists in India from 22-26 September 2008. The course is taking place at the House of Peace, TCV School Dharamshala Cantt. and attended by Dentists from 3 different branches of TCV schools namely Upper, Suja and Ladakh. ![]() ![]() TCV School children took part in the recent 12 Hour Fast observed by all the Tibetans, Tibet supporters and peace loving people of the world on 30 Aug 2008 at their respective places. ![]() ![]() Maj. General Rajeshwar Singh, AVSM, VSM, the Inspector General (IG) of Special Frontier Force(SFF) and Director General of Security, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi along with his wife and Dhepon of SFF paid a short visit to TCV School Dharamshala on 27 Aug 2008. ![]() ![]() ![]() TCV Summer Camp Children met with His Holiness, Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche and Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, etc of CTA and NGOs in and around Dharamshala on different days ![]() Group of 15 young Tibetan Children's Village boys left for the much anticipated "Gothia Cup" (World Youth Cup), Sweden under the name of Snow Lion from 13-19 July 2008. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Group of Upper TCV Staff Welfare Committee members visited Tso Pema (Rewalsar Lake) on the 18 July to make best use of the Zamling Chisang (Universal Prayer Day) by collecting thousands of prayer flags (Lungta) from the staff and children. The day was considered auspicious because of being full moon to perform rituals and offerings for good luck, prosperity and sound health. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Young lads of Tibetan Children's Village School Dharamsala Jumior Section performing songs and rhymes during their Inter-Class Sing-a-Song Nite Competition on 17 July 2008. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The much awaited Summer Camp for the Tibetan Children living outside Indian Sub-Continent is being openned here at House of Peace, TCV School Dharamsala on 7 July and will go on for a month. The camp was participated by 29 Tibetan Children (13 Boys & 16 Girls) age range 7-19 years who were either born or raised in 7 different countries prominently North America (USA & Canada). Some of the main aims of the camp are to enable them to learn Tibetan language, culture, history and basic principles of Buddhism, to experience first hand the Tibetan exile community in India through visits and interaction with TCV children and to enable the children to get a feel of the Tibetan spirit of maintaining their identity in exile and a better sense of understanding and appreciation of the Tibetan cause and aspirations. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Project "HOPE" was an initiative of Ms. Kara Linn, a 17 year old girl student at the Winsor School in Boston, Massachusetts, United States who has developed strong sense of Tibetanisation eversince her childhood. It's about bring 'HOPE' in the minds of young Tibetans through their paintings and literary skills and about the Tibet and its diverse culture and values. The painting competition took place at the TCV Cultural Centre from 21-25 June 2008. ![]() ![]() ![]() SOS Day was observed in the loving memory of late Hermann Gmeiner, Founder of SOS Kinderdorf at TCV School Upper Dharamsala on 23 June 2008. In the morning, Children assembled at ground and took part in the Drawing Competition. In the afternoon, the Gmeiner Cake Football final match was held between 2 School Teams: Clas IX and X who have earlier beaten another school team and 3 staff teams. At the end, Class X Students defeated their rival by 6-5 and lifted the 2008 Gmeiner Cake and Cup. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A 2 Day Kangyur Reading Program at TCV School Upper Dharamsala from 11-12 June followed by the Soltsok (Food Offering) at the Deckyi Tsering Hall on 13 June 2008. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() His Holiness has been immensely kind to accept and giving special 2 day Buddhism Lecture for the school and college/University students at the TCV School Dharamsala Cantt. from 5-6 June 2008. The lecture is followed by several question-answer session and then in the afternoon, group of learned Buddhists teachers hold a discussion and question-answer session for the participants. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Abbot of Namgyal Monastery along with 29 monks performed the fire-offering ritual at the TCV School temple to overcome the unxpected obstacles and misfortunes amongst the students and staff on 15 May.
