21 Dec: Global Family Program (2007 Winter)

Global Family Program was started last year 2006 with sponsorship from the TCVAA (Tibetan Children's Villages Alumni Association), Pokhara - Nepal. This program is designed for destitute children of TCV, who had never been to vacation and out of school.

Global Family Project 2007-08 For this year 2007 winter, 9 destitute children from class IX and 1 escort were selected for this program. It is of a month's duration tour to Nepal. The group of 10 students started their much awaited dream journey on December 21, 2007 by Train from Pathankot to Gorakhpur. It is the first time for most of them traveling in Train. On reaching Nepal, they will be taken to Lumbini - the birthplace of Lord Buddha and then head to Pokhara. They will be taken for various pilgrimage and historical sites. They will be allocated to various Tibetan families including families of our Alumni brothers and sisters. With this program, they will be exposed and experience life outside TCV, and elevate their morale by the love, care and the warmth of those caring families.

After much ecstasy and satisfaction at Pokhara for couple of weeks, they will head to Kathmandu where they will once again enjoy the warmth and hospitality from our Alumni brothers and sisters in Kathmandu, and experience the life there in first hand.

After a fun-filled and breathtaking trip to Nepal, the group will return via Delhi, where they will stay for several days. They will be taken for tour around Delhi, and most probably to Agra visiting Taj Mahal. They will return home (TCV) by the end of January 2008, after a month's long exhilarating and marvelous tour with full of life and experience.

TCV Head Office would like to THANK each and every members of TCV Alumni Association, Pokhara - Nepal for this thoughtful program.
