TCV CAREER RECOURCE CENTRE (CRC)

Career Resource Centre was formally established in 1992 with the aim to create career awareness, exploration, career planning and college/job placements in various colleges in India. With the change of time and needs in the society, the concept of guidance and counseling was then introduced in Tibetan Children's Village School in the year 2000 under two qualified school guidance counselor. School is one area of person's life where the child grows in total self and especially in our school where the maximum number of children are either orphan, semi-orphan, or destitute, etc. Thus, this calls for the inclusion of guidance and counseling in the middle and senior sections towards their career, emotional, personal, academics and social concerns.

INDIVIDUAL GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

This focuses on one to one counseling and guidance with respect to student’s career aspect, personal/social, emotional and academics. These students are help to resolve their problems in making time–table, goal setting, career planning, career information, conflict resolution, friends circle problems, skills in confronting personal matters, study skills, time table making, etc.

GROUP GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

Group Guidance focuses on common problems and issues. So this program starts from class VII. The Counselor visits the class once in a week. Topics covered under this program are self exploration lessons and activities, academics concerns, social skills, feelings, bullying, importance of educational and vocational planning, importance of having goal in ones life, changes during adolescent and various responsibility towards oneself and the society, importance of education, dealing with the bad habits especially chewing tobacco, time management, team work, active listening, health talk etc.

Students of class IX and X are usually dealt with career exploration, goal setting, career decision making, skills in making other decision, positive interaction, positive thinking, communication skills, interview skill, group discussion, time management, stream choice, assertive training, scholarships etc. Counselor takes the class in these sections once in a week, total of 20 periods in a week. Senior secondary classes are given class/career talk as and when needed.

CAREER EXHIBITION

Exhibition is one of the means through which the information is imparted to the student mass. It is the one of most active and interesting program of career guidance in the school.

PEER COUNSELING

Peer Counseling is a situation where the student who is usually elder, more experienced and or more educated ones come forward to help other students of their class or home/hostel, etc. This enables students to understand themselves and or career options in a better way. Their job includes information collection, organizing and dissemination of information with the help of counselor. Students of class XI were divided in two groups are distributed with topics on different careers in science, arts and commerce.

REFERRAL SYSTEM

The staff, headmaster and teachers carefully observe students during their acquaintance. And then a student is referred to the school guidance counselor for academics and personal difficulties.

CRC Library

The center comprises of books on different topics like references, self-assessment, prospectuses, career books, college directories, magazines etc. Students visit the center to read, collect information on different issues, to discuss certain issues and problems during the break and after school hours. The center is open till 5.00pm

RESOURCE PERSON TALKS

Here the guidance counselor occasionally looks for the opportunity to coordinate a talk for the students especially on career related topics.
