The proposed project is dedicated to providing space and opportunity for dialogue and learning about the critical issues of our age, e.g., promoting peace, cultural and environment awareness, mutual understanding and tolerance, conflict resolution, and local and global responsibility etc., in the minds of children under our care. The project was conceptualized as an initiative by Tibetan Children's Villages on the continued emphasis on the importance of imparting value-based education for our young children on the above issues by His Holiness the Dalai Lama in his various speeches and discourses around the world.
It is founded upon His Holiness's belief that the paths that lead to solutions to our most serious social and ecological problems will emerge out of dialogue and with this in mind, this facility will enable our children to grow up appreciating and inculcating the good values in other cultures and religions thereby strengthening their spiritual, moral and religious culture.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama, in his address to the European Parliament in 2003 Summer said, '….The promotion of a culture of dialogue and non-violence for the future of mankind is a compelling task of the international community. It is not enough for governments to endorse the principle of non-violence without any appropriate action to support and promote it. If non-violence is to prevail, non-violent movements must be made effective and successful. Some consider the 20th century a century of war and bloodshed. I believe the challenge before us is to make the new century one of dialogue and non-violence.'
This facility would be a centre within the school complex where programs and activities such as exchange programs, guest lectures, seminars, workshops, expert-led dialogue on important issues, etc. could be organized in order to enthuse and develop the mind of our children and to bring them up into ethical member of the global community.
